For quite some time, toys have held a prominent place in my work. Lately, however, these toys have become more autonomous, and appear here without any context.
For these pieces, I have used old stuffed animals, found or given to me, and modified them in such a way that they often no longer resemble their previous form. Then, working intuitively, I have sewed them directly on canvas. Rather than seeing in them the emotions and innocence of childhood, I imagine them as spots of color, pieces in a game of formal arrangement.
